Description
These spectacularly colored hot air balloons were captured while the pilots were inflating their “envelopes”. There was a very large crowd of people attending the Montoursville Hot Air Balloon Festive. Everyone was getting excited in anticipation of the balloons lifting off into the electric blue sky.
The 2007 Montoursville Rotary Club Hot Air Balloon Festival was held at the Williamsport / Lycoming County Municipal Airport in Montoursville, Pennsylvania, USA.
The image was taken on September 16th, 2007. It was shot handheld with a Canon EOS DSLR camera through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM Ultra-Wide Angle Zoom lens, set to the 21mm focal length. The lens’s aperture was at f/22 with a shutter speed of 1/180 second.

Beautiful bright colors. St. Louis has the oldest and best attended free balloon race in the US. They will be Sept 20,21 this year. I tried to go last year but with my handicap I could not get close to the grounds where they were lighting up the balloons the night before. I am going to try to be in the flyway this year when they take off.

Thanks, Byron! Our local balloon fest is very small, usually less that two dozen entrants, but I really enjoy it. I'll have to miss the festival this year, due to a wedding shoot. I hope you will get a perfect shooting position this year. Good luck! Gene
