Description
There are countless sights to find and enjoy in Ricketts Glen State Park ...beyond the twenty-two officially "named" waterfalls that most visitors come here to see. The two branches of Kitchen creek provide the mountain runoff waters that feed the waterfalls. Between those famous falls are stunning stretches of tree lined streams, that are equally beautiful, especially in the autumn season.
This site is located along the main section of Kitchen Creek, half way between the Waters Meet Point and Harrison Falls. This area is low enough in the glen to allow summers rich green colors to hang around a little longer than the turning leaves on the trees that are higher up in elevation. While I was hiking back upstream from Harrison Wright, I knew I had to stop here to capture the view, while a fine drizzle was lightly falling.
The photo was captured in the afternoon on October 10th, 2013. The shot was taken with a Canon 5D DSLR, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens at the 40mm focal length. The exposure was 1/6th of a second @ f/4. ISO was set to 100. The camera was mounted on a Manfrotto tripod, with a Manfrotto 222 Pistol Grip head. A remote shutter release cable was also used.
Ricketts Glen is located near the community of Red Rock, PA, at the junction of Pennsylvania Routes 118 and 487, about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre.
