Description
This was my last stop in Ricketts Glen, before heading home for the night. This natural stone bridge crosses a small tributary of Kitchen Creek, at the very top of the gorge. This is one of my favorite quite spots to visit on the Highland Trail. The site is about a half mile away from the Lake Rose parking area.
One last time, I just had to take a short breather and photograph this scene, before finally making my way out the woods. After nine hours of hoofing it up and down the rugged trails, I was more than ready to take a short break, before getting back into my van for the drive home. I can't imagine a finer place to relax for a little while, after a long trek through the glen.
This photo was captured very late on October 18th, 2011, well past sunset. It was taken with a Canon 30D DSLR, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens at the 17mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1/2 second at f/5.6, ISO 125. No filters were used for this shot, due to the very dim light. The camera was mounted on a Manfrotto tripod, with a Manfrotto 222 Pistol Grip head. A remote shutter release cable was also used.
Ricketts Glen State Park is adjacent to the small town of Red Rock, PA, at the junction of Pennsylvania State Routes 118 and 487. The park is about midway between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania, in the north eastern region of the United States of America.
