Description
This very large coal-stoking steam locomotive was built in Reading Pennsylvania in the mid 1940's. The T-1 Northern locomotive was the first of its class to pull trains for the very popular Reading Company Steam Engine Train excursions. The No. 2124 was fondly dubbed "the Queen of the Iron Horse Rambles".
The Reading T-1 Northern No. 2124 locomotive is currently on static display at Steamtown, USA, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA. This site is a National Park that is dedicated to the preservation of America's incredibly significant Railroad Train history.
I was personally bitten by the railroading bug as a child, when my father worked for the B&O Railroad Company in Cumberland, Maryland.
This photograph was captured on November 11th, 2013. It was taken with a Canon 5D DSLR, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens at the 25mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1/50 sec, with an aperture of f/9, ISO 100. The camera was mounted on a Manfrotto tripod, with a Manfrotto 222 Pistol Grip head. A remote shutter release cable was also used.
This image was processed in Photomatix Pro v4.1.3. Three bracketed exposures, shot one stop apart, were merged to reveal the full dynamic range of the light and black shadows in this scene.
Steamtown, USA is located at 150 South Washington Avenue, in the city of Scranton, Pennsylvania. The Electric City Trolley Museum can also be found here, just across the parking lot for Steamtown.

Thank you very much, Marvin! There is a movement to encourage Steamtown to get this engine running again. I hope it happens. Kindest regards, Gene
