Description
There was a constant breeze blowing at R B Ricketts Falls on this beautiful August afternoon in Ricketts Glen State Park. Most of the summer foliage held still just long enough for me to catch this one long exposure shot. Of all of the amazing waterfalls in Ricketts Glen, this is my favorite.
This gorgeous landmark can be found along the Glen Leigh branch of kitchen Creek, in the wilderness area of Ricketts Glen State Park. R B Ricketts is located half way between the B Reynolds and Ozone waterfalls, on the Glen Leigh Trail.
This photograph was captured on Friday, August 16th, 2012, on a solo hike of the entire waterfall loop of trails. It was taken through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens at the 26mm focal length. The lens was mounted on a Canon EOS 5D DSLR body. The aperture was set to f/13 with a long exposure of 8.0 full seconds at ISO 100.
Ricketts Glen State Park is located at the junction of RT-118 and RT 487 in Fairmount Township, Pennsylvania, USA. The nearest town is Red Rock, PA, about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre, PA.

If a few more slabs of rock fall there's going to be a natural dam and a new waterfall. You can already see it being tried out on a small scale. Lovely silky water under beautiful light, as ever, Gene! F&V#32

Thanks a lot, Richard! The falls are ever changing. Until last year, there had been a huge fallen tree leaning against the smaller spillway. One very wet spring cleared away the old timber and I saw it looking like this for the first time ever. I've been visiting this site for almost 40 years. I love watching the progression. Kindest wishes, Gene

Looks like Vermont too. Great place for a dip. Lovely.
Gene Walls replied:
Thanks you very kindly, Susan! I was shooting this waterfall a couple summers ago when there were several swimmers in this plunge pool. The mountain water is a bit cold for me, though. Knee deep wading works best for me. Best wishes, Gene
