Description
Wow... how different Adams Falls looks in winter! A lot of the ice had melted here, but the top of the falls was still locked in winter's deep freeze. At least the gushing flow had become visible in the lower sections of the falls.
Adams Falls is the only waterfall that can be seen from the road in Ricketts Glen State Park. All of the other falls require at least some hiking to reach them. Ricketts Glen is located along RT-118 in north eastern, Pennsylvania, USA. The nearest town is Red Rock, PA, about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre.
This photo was taken in the late evening, at the end of a long winter hike with fellow photographer Kevin Hart. The image was captured with a Canon EOS 10D DSLR camera, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens at the 17mm focal length. The shutter speed was .7 sec at f/9.5, ISO 200. A light Bilora Super-Biloret tripod was used with a Bogen head.

Thank you very kindly, Byron! I've been here when it was totally frozen over, but those shots looked kind of boring. The flowing water really helps to define to site, even though it does look a lot different in winter. It's an amazing place in every season. Best wishes, Gene
