Description
This humble farmhouse is an enigma wrapped in mystery... at least to me it is. Who lived here? How many children were raised in this home? Was the view from this site always as beautiful as it is today? Why is this house still standing, in disrepair, in the middle of a farmer's fertile field? Someone has considered this place important enough to leave it completely untouched, for all these years.
Why?
Forgotten Farmhouse Update:
I finally met the grandson of the original owner of this farm. He told me that his grandparents built a newer home on this farm about fifty years ago. Nobody has lived in this old farmhouse, ever since he was just a child. He only remembered his grandparents moving out of this place and into the newer home.
His father sold the farm to an Amish family a few years ago. After years of plowing around the building, the new owner decided that he may have to tare down the place to free up more growing space.
This abandoned farmhouse was captured in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, just east of Clarkstown, PA. I was near the junction of Upper Bartlow Road and Ridge Road.
The photo was taken on July 14th, 2009 with a Canon EOS 10D using a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L zoom lens set to 350mm. The shutter speed was 1/180th sec. at f/5.6, ISO was set to 100. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release cable.
