Description
Kevin Hart is lining up a shot in the freezing cold spray of Ganoga waterfall ...all ninety-four feet of it! I caught the wilderness photographer in action at the biggest waterfall in Ricketts Glen State Park.
During the planning stages of our trip, Kevin requested (insisted?) that this site be included in our route through the Glen. You got your wish, Kevin ...and I'm so glad you did. It was an incredible place to see in late winter!
Ricketts Glen is located at the junction of RT-118 and RT 487 in Fairmount Township, Pennsylvania, USA. The nearest town is Red Rock, PA, about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre, PA.
This photo was taken on March 2nd, 2011 on a winter hike along the Ganoga Glen Falls Trail in Ricketts Glen State Park. It was shot with a Canon EOS 10D DSLR camera, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens at the 23mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1/15th sec at f/9.5. The camera's ISO was 400. A light Bilora Super-Biloret tripod was used with a Bogen head. A remote shutter release cable was also employed.

OMG..you are a brave soul. I would fall on the trail alone (even with ice crampons) Gorgeous shot!
Gene Walls replied:
Thank you very much, Debra! We were as careful as possible, especially on the ice. This spot was relatively tame compared to what we encountered further up the gorge. Wonderful wishes, Gene

Wow what a awesome shot, having the other photographer in the shot give it scale!!! It almost looks unsafe!!! Looks very pretty!!! LF
Gene Walls replied:
Thank you very much, Marvin! It was a little dangerous, but we did our best to do this as safely as possible. Kindest regards, Gene
