Description
Lots of locals call the little rural town directly under this balloon Hooterville, but its really Hughesville, Pennsylvania. This small town does share more than a few similarities with the fictional TV setting, though.
This hot air balloon was about as striking as they come. Deeply saturated primary colors, especially pure red against deep blue, causes the eye to perceive a vibrating effect where the colors meet. This color scheme was used to great advantage in the psychedelic posters of the late 60s. It works very well for this balloon too.
This image was captured on the evening of September 18th, 2010 at the Lycoming Rotary Hot Air Balloon Festival.
The Rotary Club of Lycoming County presented this weekend event at the Lycoming County Fairgrounds in north central Pennsylvania, USA.
This image was shot with a Canon EOS 10D DSLR camera, with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM professional Ultra-Wide Angle lens at the 40mm focal length. The ISO was set to 100 with an aperture of f/8 and shutter speed of 1/180th second. A Monfrotto tripod and Pistop Grip ball head were used.
