Description
On this crystal clear September afternoon, the crowd waited patiently for the wind to drop to an acceptable speed and favorable direction for the balloons to receive official clearance to lift off. This was the first balloon to take to the sky, only minutes after flight clearance was announced.
This was the second and final day of the Lycoming Rotary Hot Air Balloon Festival in 2011. It was the most beautiful Sunday you could possibly imagine for this years festivities.
This image was captured at the Lycoming County Fairgrounds in Hughesville Pennsylvania, USA. It was shot on September 18th, 2011, with a Canon 30D DSLR, through a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L lens at the 35mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1/640th second at f/6.3, ISO 100. The camera and lens were mounted on a Manfrotto tripod, with a Manfrotto 222 Pistol Grip head.
