Artist's Description
This photograph was captured with a Canon EOS 30D DSLR body, fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens. The lens was set to its widest 17mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1/50th sec @ f/10, ISO 100. A CP filter was mounted on the lens to control water reflections. The camera was securely mounted on a Manfrotto 555 tripod with a 222 Pistol Grip head.
Back on September 7th of 2011, our area saw some of the worst flooding that we have ever experienced. The disaster affected the smaller creeks and streams even more seriously than it did the Susquehanna River that they all run into. Several of our areas prized historic covered bridges were damaged on that terrible day, but fortunately, none of the local structures were destroyed (but many modern bridges and roads were totally washed away).

About Gene Walls
I was born in the wild hills of West Virginia, raised in western Maryland and currently live in north central Pennsylvania, USA. My higher education includes Theological Studies, Electronics Engineering, Audio Engineering and Visual Arts. I taught a Media course at Pennsylvania College of Technology (Penn State Affiliate). Photography has been an integral part of my life since the mid 1960's. Capturing the beauty and complexity of nature is my main interest, from macro close-ups to wide vistas views ...and everything in between. Natural waterfalls are the most frequent photographic subjects found at the business end of my lens. Historic Covered Bridges and farmland scenes are also very close to my heart, but any visually interesting...
