Thank you very kindly, Donna! Yes, I am so glad I had taken so many photos before the bridge was demolished and taken away. This one completes the series. Best wishes, Gene

Artist's Description

This span across the Susquehanna river is no longer there. It was demolished recently. Construction of the new bridge began in the fall of 2010 and has been completed in spring of 2013. I have been photographing this old bridge for years, to have a permanent record of how beautiful it was.

The old Arch Street Bridge connects the city of Williamsport, Pennsylvania to the borough of Duboistown, across the west branch of the Susquehanna River. This bridge was listed in Historic Bridges of the United States. This was the first and only span into Duboisetown, constructed in 1923. The bridge was recently demolished and has been replaced by a much less interesting but safer span.

This photo was captured on November 11th, 2007, from the shore of Susquehanna State Park with a Canon EOS 10D body fitted with a Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens at the 28mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1/750th sec at f/13, ISO 400.

Natural waterfalls are the most frequent photographic subjects found at the business end of my lens. Historic Covered Bridges and farmland scenes are also very close to my heart, but any visually interesting...
