I captured this beautiful field of red clover or crimson clover on an early summer day in Pennsylvania, warm and breezy, with bees humming.
In addition to its beauty, crimson clover, a legume, adds nitrogen to the soil and can be used in rotation with other crops to keep soil healthy for other plant crops. It also contains isoflavones, which produce estrogen like effects in the body, showing potential for treatment of conditions of menopause, such as hot flashes and osteoporosis.
