Artist's Description

The B. Reynolds Waterfall was named in honor of Benjamin Reynolds, the brother of Robert B. Ricketts' wife, Elizabeth. This is the second waterfall along the Glen Leigh Trail, as you are hiking upstream from the Waters Meet Point. This scene is found just beyond Wyandot Falls, in Ricketts Glen State Park.

The B. Reynolds waterfall has a very dramatic 40 foot drop. There is a huge monolith of solid rock that overhangs the falls, forming the steep cliff above. Here you see the treacherous field of fallen trees and boulders that have accumulated directly below the waterfall. This shot really put the tripod's flexibility and adjustability to the ultimate test. The photographer was equally tested by this unforgiving debris field.

The photo was captured on Thursday, October 10th, 2013, on a solo hike down the Glen Leigh Trail. It was shot with a Canon 5D DSLR body, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens at the 29mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1.3 seconds @ f/10, ISO 1...

Natural waterfalls are the most frequent photographic subjects found at the business end of my lens. Historic Covered Bridges and farmland scenes are also very close to my heart, but any visually interesting...
