Description
Canadian geese take a short rest stop at the Old Arch Street Bridge in the fall. After a good meal and some relaxation, they will be back on their way to a much warmer destination in the south.
This span across the Susquehanna river is no longer there. It was demolished i the spring of 2013. Construction of the replacement bridge began in the fall of 2010 and has been completed. I have been photographing this old bridge for years, to have a permanent record of its beauty.
The old Arch Street Bridge connects the city of Williamsport, Pennsylvania to the borough of Duboistown, across the west branch of the Susquehanna River. This bridge was listed in Historic Bridges of the United States. This was the first and only span into Duboisetown, constructed in 1923. The bridge was recently demolished and has been replaced by a much less interesting but safer span.
This photo was captured on October 25th, 2009, from the shore of Susquehanna State Park with a Canon EOS 10D body fitted with a Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L lens at the 95mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1/180th sec at f/9.5, ISO 100.

What an absolutely perfect image, Gene ... what a gloriously clear and perfect blue-sky day ... and you've found such a beautiful scene to put under it!!! Wonderful composition with that fascinating bridge ... and of course I'm loving the geese ... now you have to tell me, how did you get them all facing in the same direction?? LOL!!! f/v
