Description
When I visited Mohawk Falls six days earlier, there was very little water spilling over the falls. This area had gone for weeks without any rain, dramatically lowering the flow in Kitchen Creek. I decided to return here after a nice autumn rainstorm had refreshed the water levels in the Glen.
I setup my tripod as close as I could to the same spot that I used a week earlier. The water prevented me from reaching the exact location, but this was pretty close. Now, I was able to compare this new photo to the one titled "More Moss And Autumn Leaves Than Water". I have to say that more water is a good thing.
Mohawk Falls is the first waterfall you will encounter, if you begin your hike from the top of the Ganoga Glen Gorge in Ricketts Glen State Park. This beautiful wilderness site is not too far from the enlarged Lake Rose parking area.
This photograph was captured on Thursday, October 10th, 2013, on a second autumn hike through Ricketts Glen. The shot was captured with a Canon EOS 5D camera through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens, at the 17mm focal length. The exposure was 3.2 seconds at f/9, ISO 100. A 77mm ND-8 Neutral Density filter was mounted on the lens. The camera was securely mounted on a Manfrotto 055CLB tripod with a Manfrotto 222 Pistol Grip head. A remote shutter release cable was also used.
Ricketts Glen State Park is located at the junction of RT-118 and RT 487 in Fairmount Township, Pennsylvania, USA. The nearest town is Red Rock, PA, about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre, PA.
