This is a replacement photo. It replaces a shot that was up on FAA for a day or so. The water flow was so weak in the first shot that it was disappointing to me. So... I went back to this spot, after a good rainfall, and captured this newer view with a nice "healthy" flow over the falls. Mohican is such a beautiful waterfall. I wanted to make sure this landmark looked its best for everyone to enjoy. Gene

Wow this is a lovely view, not only the waterfall but the leaves on the trees and on the ground too!!! v2f

Gene Walls replied:

Thank you very kindly, Marvin! I went back today and found a much better flow over the falls, and the leaves looked nicer too. I'll have a new photo of this site soon. Best wishes, Gene

Gene Walls replied:

Thank you very much, Bob! I was disappointed by the low water levels, so I went back today (after a good rain) to re-shoot all 22 falls. New pix to follow. Kindest regards, Gene

Such a beautiful place . . . gorgeous!!

Gene Walls replied:

Thank you so much, Lori! I'm going back tomorrow to see if the leaves are still on the trees after a heavy rain. Kindest wishes, Gene

Artist's Description

Mohican is a beautiful two-tier waterfall. This point of view allows you to see the entire waterfall, with Delaware Falls in the background. Many of the trees were at their peek of color on this overcast October day.

This view can be enjoyed in Ganoga Glen on Kitchen Creek, in Ricketts Glen State Park. Mohican is just a short distance below Delaware Falls, not very far from Conestoga Falls downstream.

Just to the left of this spot, beside the wooden footbridge, is the waterfall that I call the "Hidden Nameless Waterfall". This Unnamed Waterfall had been masked by a huge fallen tree and thick ground clutter for may years. With a little effort, it was a lovely waterfall to photograph. Recently, two additional big trees have toppled across the front of the falls, nearly cutting it off completely from any access for photographs. When you cross the bridge below Mohican, be sure to take a look up the small tributary that the bridge spans ...it's still worth a quick peak.

My higher education includes Theological Studies, Electronics Engineering, Audio Engineering and Visual Arts. I taught a Media course at Pennsylvania College of Technology (Penn State Affiliate). Photography has been an integral part of my life since the mid 1960's. Capturing the beauty and complexity of nature is my main interest, from macro close-ups to wide vistas views ...and everything in between. Natural waterfalls are the most frequent photographic subjects found at the business end of my lens. Historic Covered Bridges and farmland scenes are also very close to my heart, but any visually interesting...
