Description
The Tuscarora Waterfall has always been one of my favorite natural attractions in all of the Ricketts Glen wilderness area. There is something really special about the way the lower tier of this waterfall causes the spray to fan out over the large suspended boulder near the bottom. I love the way the falling water was creating this unique "bridal veil" appearance. This only happens when Kitchen Creek is flowing very strongly. When the water levels are lower, this "veil" is usually divided into two separate spillways. The way the falls looked on this fine autumn day added a new level of visual impact to this always stunning waterfall.
The photo was captured on October 18th, 2011. The shot was taken with a Canon 30D DSLR, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens at the 31mm focal length. The exposure time was 2 full seconds @ f/13, ISO 125. A ND-4 Neutral Density filter was used, combined with a Circular Polarizer that was stacked in front. The camera was mounted on a Manfrotto tripod, with a Manfrotto 222 Pistol Grip head. A remote shutter release cable was also used.
Tuscarora Falls can be found near the bottom of the Ganoga Glen trail, close to the Waters Meet point in the Park. Ricketts Glen is located near the community of Red Rock, PA, at the junction of Pennsylvania Routes 118 and 487, about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre in the State of Pennsylvania, in the United States of America.

Thank you most kindly, Janis! I did join the group and submitted a couple nature shots. I hope it's not a problem that my work is mostly from eastern States. Your group description says "western States". Best wishes, Gene

We have been here...your photo is beautiful!
Gene Walls replied:
Thank you very kindly, Trina! I love this place so much that I have captured photos of every waterfall in Rickets Glen, most of them in all four seasons. I have a several falls that still need a good summer shot. My "In Every Season" project should be finished soon. Thank you so much for checking out my work! Best wishes, Gene
