Description
Sheldon Reynolds Falls is the second waterfall you see when you start your hike at the bottom of the gorge in Ricketts Glen State Park. It is a short distance below the point called "Waters Meet". The water was flowing fast because there had been so much rain the week before our visit.
The lower elevations here were showing very little of the warm fall colors that we usually expect to see in October. The leaves on a couple trees above the falls had just turned a nice bright yellow. Fortunately, one of those trees just happened to catch a flash of sunlight, to make it really stand out in this primarily green scene.
This photograph was captured on Monday, October 11th, 2010, on a meet & shoot event. It was taken with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens on a Canon EOS 10D DSLR body. The aperture was set to f/16, shutter speed was .25 seconds at the 19mm focal length, ISO 100.
This puts me one step closer to completing a full set of photographs of all of the named waterfalls in Ricketts Glen in all four seasons. After four and a half years, the current count is 73 of the 88 images needed to complete the project. The remaining views are all summer shots that I plan to shoot in 2013.
Ricketts Glen State Park is located at the junction of RT-118 and RT 487 in Fairmount Township, Pennsylvania, USA. The nearest town is Red Rock, PA, about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre, PA.
