I had heard rumors about this hidden waterfall, but very few people told me that they had actually seen it in person. Sunday afternoon, on the first day of November, I decided to try find a hidden waterfall that I had been hearing about. I had very few problems finding the trail, about two miles into the woods. However, it was already after four o'clock and I knew it would be dark by six, so I walked quickly. I could hear that incredible roar of a waterfall in the distance. A couple hundred yards into the hidden glen, I caught my first sight of the Jacoby Run Waterfall. It was an exhilerating vision!
By this time, the sun was setting fast, so I quickly setup my tripod and started shooting right away. Hopefully, my photo will give you some sense of the awesome power and beauty of this amazing place.
This photo was captured with a Canon EOS 10D body fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L Zoom lens, at the 17mm focal length. The exposure was a full 2 second at f/13, ISO 100...
I was born in the wild hills of West Virginia, raised in western Maryland and currently live in north central Pennsylvania, USA. My higher education includes Theological Studies, Electronics Engineering, Audio Engineering and Visual Arts. I taught a Media course at Pennsylvania College of Technology (Penn State Affiliate). Photography has been an integral part of my life since the mid 1960's. Capturing the beauty and complexity of nature is my main interest, from macro close-ups to wide vistas views ...and everything in between. Natural waterfalls are the most frequent photographic subjects found at the business end of my lens. Historic Covered Bridges and farmland scenes are also very close to my heart, but any visually interesting...
