Artist's Description
The last of winter’s snow on the northward facing mountainside presented the perfect backdrop for this beautifully preserved historic stone barn …the most beautiful barn I know of!
This unusual farm is located just outside of the town of Montoursville, Pennsylvania, USA, along RT-87 north. This unique barn is the centerpiece of the current “Snyder Farm”. The barn was originally built by the Scott family. The Scott’s were Quakers who had settled in Fairfield Township in the 1770’s. Direct descendants of the Scott family have officially applied to have this site listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places. That designation has not yet been granted, but it is under serious consideration. The current owner, Richard Snyder, purchased the property from the Scott family in 1920. This old family farm has the enviable reputation of growing the best sweet corn in the country.
