Description
This is the second time that I was fortunate enough to see sun rays filtering into this spot in Watkins Glen. This shot was captured on September 1st of 2007.
Minnehaha Falls is shown here, with the Cavern Cascade in the background. It is very rare to find this extremely popular section of the glen with no visitors milling about in the scene. Miraculously, on this day, I stood there enjoying the view totally alone. It was just me and those glorious shafts of sunlight. My camera caught this shot before anyone else entered the scene.
Watkins Glen State Park is located at the southern tip of Seneca Lake, in Watkins Glen, NY, USA. This beautiful gorge can be found in the Finger Lakes region, in the south central part of upstate New York.
This photograph was captured with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens on a Canon EOS 10D DSLR body. The aperture was f/8, ISO 400. Shutter speed was 1/20th second at the 25mm focal length. The camera & Lens were mounted on a Manfrotto tripod with a Manfrotto 222 joystick ball head.

What a nice secluded place and love the waterfalls. Ruth
Gene Walls replied:
Thank you very much, Ruth. Normally, this site would be crowded with people. I was very fortunate to have it all to myself, even for just a brief moment. Kindest wishes, Gene

Thank you very much, Byron! It's amazing how these man-made walkways look like they were always supposed to be there. That makes Watkins Glen a very special place. Kindest regards, Gene
