Description
This is a view from the top of Swallow Falls cliff, on a perfectly clear late summer afternoon. On the left side of the photo, you can see the unusual rock formation that towers above the waters of the Youghiogheny river, in the calm area of the falls plunge pool. There are two large trees and other foliage growing on top of this rock column, making it a very unusual sight.
Swallow Falls State Park is located near the far western border of Maryland with West Virginia. This spot is about 9 miles away from Oakland, MD, on Harrington Manor Road. The park is very close to the West Virgina state line.
The shot was captured with a Canon EOS 5D camera, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens, at the 25mm focal length. The exposure was 1/15th sec @ f/8, ISO 100. A Manfrotto tripod and head were used, with a remote shutter cable.

Its interesting to find you on the top of the waterfall:) Always used to watch from front:) Awesome view, Gene! I bet you had a blast that day too! f/v/g+
Gene Walls replied:
Thanks, Eti! You are right, I usually do shoot the face of most waterfalls. This one is different because of the rock formation below the falls. I just had to catch a shot of that unique column of stone, with the trees growing on top. Wonderful wishes, Gene
