Description
This is what you see when you look up through the gorge from Sentry Bridge in Watkins Glen. Sentry bridge is the arched feature that is clearly visible from the park's main welcome center. The bridge is prominently displayed on many postcards, travel pamphlets and photographs of Watkins Glen State Park.
Obviously, what you can see from the bridge has a much more profound impact than the well-known bridge does itself. Mother nature's deeply etched artistry is simply unforgettable. This observation point is a great place to fully appreciate the enormous size and stunning beauty of this narrow canyon, that has taken eons to evolve into what you see here today.
Watkins Glen State Park is located at the southern tip of Seneca Lake, in Watkins Glen, New York, USA. This beautiful gorge is found in the Finger Lakes region, in the south centra portion of the state.
This photograph was captured just after sunset with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens on a Canon EOS DSLR body. The aperture was wide open at f/4, shutter speed was 1/30th second at the 40mm focal length. The camera & Lens were mounted on a Manfrotto tripod with a Manfrotto 222 joystick ball head.
