Description
The fast moving waters of Kitchen Creek were running crystal clear on this perfect May evening. New foliage was starting to "spring up", especially here, at the lower end of the gorge in Ricketts Glen.
With the lengthening shadows of day's end, the face of the waterfall was finally free of direct sunlight. Bright sun and harsh shadows had always made this site a real challenge to photograph properly. This was just the right time, on a gorgeous spring evening, to capture the true beauty of Sheldon Reynolds Falls.
This image of Sheldon Reynolds Waterfall was captured with a Canon 10D DSLR, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens, at the 30mm focal length. The aperture was f/11 with a .3 second shutter speed at ISO 100. A Manfrotto tripod and pistol grip head were used with a remote shutter release.
The image is presented exactly as-is. It was simply converted to jpeg from the camera RAW file in Photoshop CS2. No cropping, enhancements or alterations were applied to this photograph.
Ricketts Glen State Park is located at the junction of RT-118 and RT 487 in Fairmount Township, Pennsylvania, USA. The nearest town is Red Rock, PA, about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre, PA. Sheldon Reynolds is the second waterfall on the trail from RT-118, at the bottom of the glen.
