Description
This is Oneida Falls, the second "named" waterfall from the top of the Ganoga Trail, a short distance below Mohawk falls. This site is located in Ricketts Glen State Park, in north central Pennsylvania, USA. Red Rock, PA is the nearest community to the park.
The local weather forecast had predicted completely overcast skies all day, but as you can see, the clouds were already gone and the sun was shining down brightly, before the noon hour had even arrived. The morning shadows and unexpected sun rays were lighting this scene in a very charming way to me.
The photo was captured at 11 AM on October 18th, 2011 with a Canon 30D DSLR, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens at the 17mm focal length. The exposure was 1.3 seconds @ f/18. A ND-4 Neutral Density filter was used with a Circular Polarizer stacked in front. The camera was mounted on a Manfrotto tripod, with a Manfrotto 222 Pistol Grip head. A remote shutter release was also used.
This shot is straight from the camera, untouched. The RAW image was converted to JPEG format in Photoshop CS2 without any changes or alterations.
