Thin clouds were scattering the full moon's reflected sunlight in such a way that it was creating an amber halo around our ever present celestial companion. This photo was captured shortly after moonrise, from our backyard in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, USA, on November 9th, 2011.
The image was captured with a Canon EOS 30D DSLR camera, through a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L lens at the 224mm focal length. This photo was shot in full manual exposure mode, focused manual, with a shutter speed of 1/2 second @ f/5.6, ISO 100. The camera was mounted on a Manfrotto tripod with a Manfrotto ball head. A remote shutter cable was also used.
