Description
I decided to revisit this historical covered bridge in Buttonwood, Pennsylvania, USA. This iconic covered bridge can be seen while traveling north on RT-15.
My last shoot here was rained out, before I was able to captured the photo that I saw in my head. I was remembering how this site looked on a beautiful sunny day, quite a few years ago. Now you can see the Button Bridge, under perfect weather conditions, just as I had envisioned this fully restored relic of pure Pennsylvania history!
The bridge was originally built in 1898, across Blockhouse Creek on Covered Bridge Road in the village of Buttonwood. For its centennial anniversary (in 1998), it was fully restored to the stunning condition that you see here. This bridge is also know as the "Blockhouse Covered Bridge". It was officially listed on the National Register Of Historic Places in 1980. The Lycoming County Commissioners are responsible for the care and preservation of this bridge. By my account, they have done an outstanding job!
This photo was captured with a Canon EOS 10D body fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L Zoom lens, at the 40mm focal length. The shutter speed was 0.5 sec at f/6, ISO 100. A Manfrotto, tripod was used.
