Description
On this overcast autumn day in Ricketts Glen, the colorful foliage of fall was really beginning to glow on the trees above the falls. It was the perfect time on the perfect day to catch an autumn view of the F. L. Ricketts waterfall.
This photo was captured on October 10th, 2013, during a solo hike through Ricketts Glen State Park.
The image was taken with a Canon 5D DSLR, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens, at the 24mm focal length. A ND8 neutral density filter was mounted on the lens. The aperture was set to f/16 with a shutter speed of 1.3 seconds at ISO 100. A Manfrotto 550B tripod and 222 pistol grip head were used with a remote shutter release cable.
Ricketts Glen State Park is located at the junction of RT-118 and RT 487 in Fairmount Township, Pennsylvania, USA. The nearest town is Red Rock, about half way between the cities of Williamsport and Wilkes Barre, PA.

A long slow considered descent, and the first I can recall with a mirror image. The red leaves lining the sides look good too. Great capture, Gene! F&V#13
Gene Walls replied:
Thank you so much, Richard! This has been a really tough site to capture, due to difficult light conditions in the steep gorge. This very calm overcast morning finally allowed me to shoot it the way I saw it. The reflection was a nice bonus. Kindest regards, Gene
