Description
Cavern Cascade is one of the most popular attractions in all of Watkins Glen State Park. In fact, it is nearly impossible to catch a photo of this very interesting site without a group of dazzled visitors sharing the frame with the waterfall. Tourists just love to stand under the spillway here, most of them with their hands outstretched into the falling stream of water. I had to wait patiently, for quite a while, to catch this single shot …sans people.
Watkins Glen State Park is located at the southern tip of Seneca Lake, in Watkins Glen, New York, USA. This beautiful attraction can be found in the “Spiral Tunnel”. It is the first named waterfall on the Glen Trail, from the main park entrance. The park is located in the “Finger Lakes” region, in the southern part of the state.
This photograph was captured on September 1st, 2009 with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens on a Canon EOS 10D DSLR body. The aperture was f/4, ISO 400. Shutter speed was 1/8th second at the 40mm focal length. The camera & Lens were mounted on a Manfrotto 055CLB tripod with a Manfrotto 222 “joystick” ball head. A remote shutter release was also used. No flash.
