Description
The Canadian National No. 47 locomotive is currently on static display at Steamtown, USA, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA. This site is a National Park that is dedicated to the preservation of North American Railroading Train history.
I was personally bitten by the railroading bug as a child, when my father worked for the B&O Railroad Company in Cumberland, Maryland.
This photograph was captured on November 11th, 2013, on a cold overcast Veterans Day. It was taken with a Canon 5D DSLR camera body, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens at the 32mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1/20 sec, with an aperture of f/11, ISO 100. The camera was mounted on a Manfrotto tripod, with a Manfrotto 222 Pistol Grip head. A remote shutter release cable was also used.
This image was processed in Photomatix Pro v4.1.3 and converted monotone in Photoshop CS2, using the Channels Mixer tool. Three bracketed exposures, shot one stop apart, were merged to reveal the full dynamic range of the light and shadows in this scene.
Steamtown, USA is located at 150 South Washington Avenue, in the city of Scranton, Pennsylvania. The Electric City Trolley Museum can also be found here, just across the parking lot for Steamtown.
