Description
Delaware Falls is a very wide and complex waterfall in Ganoga Glen in Ricketts Glen State Park. This site is ever changing, with fallen trees and large boulders getting rearranged each year. The number of active spillways seems to be different each time I visit this site. These changes to the landscape are especially obvious after the spring runoff has ended and the water levels go back down for the summer.
One constant here has been the most unusual "island", just below the splash pool. What I refer to as an island is really just a huge boulder with a tall tree growing on top of it. It's an interesting sight to see.
This waterfall can be visited on the Ganoga Glen branch of Kitchen Creek, in the Ricketts Glen "Natural Area". Delaware Falls is located just below Seneca Falls and a short distance upstream from Mohican Falls.
This photograph was captured on June 20th, 2014 with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens on a Canon EOS 5D DSLR full frame body. The aperture was set to f/8 with a shutter speed of 0.6 seconds at the widest 17mm focal length, ISO 100.
Ricketts Glen State Park is located at the junction of RT-118 and RT 487 in Fairmount Township, Pennsylvania, USA. The nearest town is Red Rock, PA, about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre, PA.
