Description
I found a lot of beautiful blooming daylilies (Hemerocallis fulva) in the woods near a small pond at Indian Park in Montoursville, Pennsylvania. I photographed a few of them with my new lens, since most of my daylily pictures had been taken with an older macro model.
What we now know as "daylilies" in North America were originally native to Asia. English flower growers began hybridizing the flowers for their gardens and then they quickly became very popular in the United States. The flowers eventually "escaped" into the American wilds... where they flourished. The daylily is now widely considered to be a wildflower. Hemerocallis fulva are not accepted as a "true" lily.
This photo was captured with a Canon EOS 10D using a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro prime lens. The shutter speed was 1/20th sec at f/13, ISO 400. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release.
