Description
Daylight was quickly fading away. I was making my way up Evergreen Trail, just above the Adams Waterfall, in Ricketts Glen State Park. It was a perfect October evening and I was within sight the Evergreen parking lot …when this autumn reflection practically shouted out to be noticed. Golden leaves were everywhere and the ground was covered with a thick bed of fallen pine needles. This would be my very last photograph of the day, after ten hours of hiking and enjoying every landmark in the Glen.
This spot is located at the southern-most end of the park’s Wilderness Area. The site is literally just a few steps away from the “Evergreen” parking area, along RT-118. That makes this a wonderful place to end an adventure filled day in Ricketts Glen State Park …shots “in the can” and my van in clear view in front of me. Day is done.
This photograph was captured on October 8th, 2014, with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens on a Canon EOS 5D DSLR body. The aperture was set to f/11 with a shutter speed of 3.2 seconds, in manual mode. The lens was at the 17mm focal length. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a 222 pistol grip head.
Ricketts Glen State Park is located at the junction of RT-118 and RT 487 in Fairmount Township, Pennsylvania, USA. The nearest town is Red Rock, PA, less than half way to Williamsport from Wilkes Barre, PA.
