Description
This young white-tailed buck gave me a New York raspberry (AKA the Bronx cheer)! It was like he was taunting me by sticking his tongue out at me, just before high-tailing it back into the dense woods. Take a very close at the deer;s eyelashes, there were some lashes that were at least six inches long! What a wonderful animal to see!
A bit of important advise; NEVER feed wild animals (except birds, of course). This buck was way too comfortable in my presence, which leads me to believe that he had very little fear of humans. Wild animals must have a healthy fear of people, to insure their long term own preservation. Feeding wild creatures upsets the balance of nature. Please don't do that, it is far more cruel than you think.
This was shot with a Canon EOS 10D using a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L zoom lens at the 280mm focal length, 1/350th sec. @ f/5.6, ISO 800. The deer was shot (er, I meant photographed) near Williamsport, Pennsylvania, USA.
