Description
R. B. Ricketts Falls is one of the most popular sites to see in all of Ricketts Glen State Park. The upper and lower spillways are separated by an interesting ledge, that is best seen from this particular angle. I love the way the water seems to be springing out from under the huge boulder on the left side of the upper cascade. A small tributary also empties into the main splash pool here. It can be spotted on the right side of the main waterfall. Unfortunately, that little stream was running kind of low at the time I took this shot, but it's still faintly visible in this picture.
The R. B. Ricketts waterfall is located about half way between the B. Reynolds and Ozone Falls. This landmark can be found on the Glen Leigh branch of Kitchen Creek.
This photograph was taken on Wednesday, October 8th, 2014, on a solo autumn hike through Ricketts Glen. The shot was captured with a Canon EOS 5D camera through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens, at the 23mm focal length. The exposure was 1.3 seconds at f/6.3, ISO 100. A 77mm ND-4 Neutral Density filter was mounted on the lens. The camera was securely mounted on a Manfrotto 055CLB tripod with a Manfrotto 222 pistol grip head. A remote shutter release cable was also used.
Ricketts Glen State Park is located at the junction of RT-118 and RT 487 in Fairmount Township, Pennsylvania, USA. The nearest town is Red Rock, PA, about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre, PA.
