Description
A view from the rolling farmland hills of Unityville, Pennsylvania, USA, looking toward the power plant near Berwick, PA. It was a late autumn evening, just before sunset. I felt that the image conveyed a message beyond the obvious visual impression.
This photo was shot handheld with a Canon EOS 10D using a Canon EF 28-70mm f/2.8L professional lens, 1/1500th sec. @ f/8. The ISO was set to 800. The image was saved at five exposure settings, one stop apart, from -1 to +4. The exposures were processed in Photomatix Pro v3.2.

Almost looks like a pair of tornadoes in the distance (sorry, it's the meteorologist in me). - Mike

Thank you very much, Mike! As you know, this is a "textbook" example of an Inversion Layer. The water vapor from the cooling towers has met with the low cloud ceiling to create this unusual atmospheric layering effect. I just had to capture it. Kindest regards, Gene

Great sky and scenic view, Gene. I've been to that plant. - Mike (V)

Thank you very kindly, Mike! It's amazing far away this plant is visible from throughout the area. Best regards, Gene
