Description
This is an autumn view of Onondaga Falls, located at the very top of the Glen Leigh trail, a short distance from the Highland Trail, in Ricketts Glen State Park.
This photograph was captured on Columbus Day, Monday, October 11th, 2010. I was having a great time at a with a bunch of nature photographers on a hike through the glen. This was the very first waterfall we encountered, while the morning light was still golden and perfect for the scene.
The photo was shot through a borrowed Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lens, mounted on a Canon EOS 10D DSLR body. The aperture was set to f/16 with the shutter speed at 4 full seconds, at the 24mm focal length, ISO 100.
Ricketts Glen State Park is located at the junction of RT-118 and RT 487 in Fairmount Township, Pennsylvania, USA. The nearest town is Red Rock, PA, about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre.

Excellent shot Gene. Your choice of 4 seconds for this shot worked very well as you've captured that silky water while still maintaining some definition. V+F for sure.

Another wonderful waterfall shot! And I agree with Jordan-you have so many wonderful descriptions:)v
Gene Walls replied:
Thank you very much, Eti! As you might have noticed, I'm not in the camp that believes that the images should strictly speak for themselves. I really enjoy reading the background info that many artists provide in their descriptions. I think it actually enhances their work. I have learned a lot from your informative descriptions, too. Thank you for doing that. Kindest wishes, Gene

Gene, this is like a painting - Beautiful! v/f BTW - love that you put down what settings you've used to capture such a shot - THANK U!!
Gene Walls replied:
Greatly appreciated, Jordan! I always list the gear I used and the settings, because I found it helpful when others had documented their work that way. EXIF files are so much more reliable than the barely legible notes I used to keep on my film shots. Digital files make it so easy to find the accurate info these days. Kindest wishes, Gene

Superb exposure, the lighting is magical, with the light on the top portion and shadow on the bottom it gives it an excellent dept of field fv
Gene Walls replied:
Thanks a lot, Byron! I arrived at this site just in time to catch the morning light, before it was shining directly on the water. I'm so glad you like it. Best regards, Gene
