Description
This big steam locomotive was built in 1903 by the American Locomotive Company, at their Cooke Locomotive and Machine Works factory in Paterson, New Jersey. This steam engine ran from Chicago to New Orleans in the early 1900's and was used to pull heavy freight cars through the mountains of Tennessee, in it's heyday.
The ICRR 790 is on permanent static display in the Roundhouse of the Steamtown, USA, a National Park & Museum in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The locomotive has been outfitted with convenient steps and a landing to allow visitors to go into the cab to see what the engineer would have seen as he operated the Johnson Bar and throttle lever.
This photograph was captured in the morning of November 11th, 2013. It was taken with a Canon 5D DSLR, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens at the 25mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1/100 sec, with an aperture of f/9, ISO 100. The camera was mounted on a Manfrotto tripod, with a Manfrotto 222 Pistol Grip head. A remote shutter release cable was also used.
