There had been very little precipitation in Ricketts Glen, for more than a month. A nice steady rain had fallen here during the overnight and early morning hours. The rain ended shortly before I arrived here, breathing new life into the flow of Kitchen Creek. If not for that very welcome drenching, this waterfall might have looked much less compelling than it appeared while I was there.

The site is located on the Glen Leigh Trail. It is some distance upstream from Ozone Falls and just a stone’s throw below the Shawnee Waterfall.

This photograph was captured on Wednesday, October 8th, 2014, on a solo autumn hike through Ricketts Glen. The photo was shot with a Canon EOS 5D camera through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens, at the 20mm focal length. The exposure was 1.3 seconds at f/9, ISO 100. A 77mm ND-4 Neutral Density filter was mounted on the lens. The camera was securely mounted on a Manfrotto 055CLB tripod with a Manfrotto 222 pistol grip head. A remote shutter release cable was also used.

Ricketts Glen State Park is located at the junction of RT-118 and RT 487 in Fairmount Township, Pennsylvania, USA. The nearest town is Red Rock, PA, about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre, PA.
