Description
Mohican Falls is a favorite on several of my friend's "best of Ricketts Glen" lists. It's easy to see why this natural wonder gets such high ratings from so many experienced "waterfall chasers". Mohican always puts on a great show, whether there is a high volume of water in Kitchen Creek or not ...it appears to be trickle proof.
The Mohican waterfall is located toward the bottom of the Ganoga Glen trail, not far from the Waters Meet point in Ricketts Glen State Park. This site is just below Delaware Falls and a short distance above the often missed Conestoga waterfall.
The photo was captured on a bright, sunny afternoon on October 18th, 2011. The shot was taken with a Canon 30D DSLR, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens at the 17mm focal length. The exposure was 1 second @ f/16. The camera's ISO was set to 125. A ND-4 Neutral Density filter was used, combined with a Circular Polarizer that was stacked in front. The camera was mounted on a Manfrotto tripod, with a Manfrotto 222 Pistol Grip head. A remote shutter release cable was also used.
Ricketts Glen is located near the community of Red Rock, PA, at the junction of Pennsylvania Routes 118 and 487, about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre in the State of Pennsylvania, in the United States of America.
