Description
This small unnamed waterfall is located on the Glen Leigh Trail, between the R. B. Ricketts and B. Reynolds waterfalls in Ricketts Glen State Park. In my galleries, I have always called this landmark "The Unsung Waterfall". However, several of my friends have dubbed this site "Aaron's Cascade", so I will use both monikers from now on.
I had just setup my tripod here, after photographing R. B. Ricketts Falls a few minutes earlier. Suddenly, I heard a familiar voices calling out to me. I looked up from my camera's eyepiece to see Aaron Campbell and Tim Divine trekking up the trail from lower in the glen. It just so happens that Aaron Campbell is the "Aaron" for whom the site was unofficially named. I knew that Tim and Aaron would be hiking through the glen on this day, but it was quite a coincidence that we should meet up at this particular spot, at the exact same time. Go figure!
This autumn shot was captured on October 10th, 2013, with a Canon 5D camera, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L professional lens. The focal length was set to 29mm. The shutter speed was 1/5th of a second @ f/5.6, ISO 100. The camera was mounted on a Manfrotto tripod, with a Manfrotto 222 Pistol Grip head. A remote shutter release cable and hot shoe mounted bubble level were also used.
Ricketts Glen is located near the small rural village of Red Rock, PA, at the junction of Pennsylvania State Routes 118 and 487. The park is about midway between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania, in the north eastern region of the USA.

Pretty image of "Aaron's Cascade", Gene. That is one I have to shoot on every visit to RGSP..

Thanks a bunch, Aaron! I think that's why this site has been nicknamed in your honor. It was great to see you there last fall, my friend. Kindest regards, Gene

Nice to be made to feel welcome - I see the trees laid out the red carpet for you, that's a generous coating with more to come! An unassuming waterfall, but those teetering rock slabs add some tension! Great capture, Gene! F&V#7
Gene Walls replied:
Ah, yes... nature's red carpet was definitely being rolled out there. If I was there today, it would look completely different. With the old growth canopy devoid of leaves, the light would be cold and stark. I'm waiting for snow to fall before my next visit to the Glen. Thank you very kindly, Richard! All the best, Gene
