Description
On a summer hike we trekked from the bottom of the gorge all the way to the very top and then back down again. It was getting very close to sunset when we stopped to capture this view. It was the perfect time to catch a wide-angle shot without any people in the scene.
This is the Central Cascade waterfall, the tallest falls in the park, with a dramatic 60 foot drop. It is in an area called Glen Cathedral in the heart of Watkins Glen State Park. The park is located at the southern tip of Seneca Lake, in Watkins Glen, New York, USA. This beautiful gorge can be found in the Finger Lakes region, in the western portion of the state.
This photograph was captured on August 31st with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens on a Canon EOS DSLR body. The aperture was f/22, shutter speed was 1.5 second at the widest focal length of 17mm. The camera & Lens were mounted on a Manfrotto 055 tripod with a Manfrotto 222 ball head. A remote shutter release was used to minimize camera shake.
