Description
This creature is the source of deep-seated fear for most people, a large brown spider (Neoscona crucifera). I must say that the closer I got with my big macro lens, the more beautiful this guy looked to me. He had woven his web just outside my side door. As he patiently waited for his diner to be trapped in his web, I took the opportunity to capture this very closeup portrait (and several other shots from different perspectives). Sorry if this image gives you the "heebie-jeebies", but be warned, there may be additional images of him to follow.
This macro photo was captured on September 10th, 2011 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. It was taken with a Canon EOS 10D through a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM 1:1 Macro prime lens. The shutter speed was 1/8th sec at f/5.6, ISO 100. A Manfrotto 550B tripod and 222 pistol grip head were also used.
This 1:1 macro image is "straight from the camera", simply converted from RAW to Jpeg format. No cropping or post processing was applied.
Your comments are always welcome! Constructive criticism is appreciated.

Wow, talk about up close and personal, fantastic macro work fv
Gene Walls replied:
Thank you so kindly, Byron! I never get very many comments about my spider photos. They seem tp gross out too many viewers. I really appreciate your kind compliment! Best wishes, Gene
