Description
On the far side of the Buckhorn bridge, the road becomes a private driveway. That limits the amount of traffic that crosses this bridge, protecting it from a lot of wear and tare. This view was captured from the turn around at the bottom of the gated dirt road.
The Buckhorn Covered Bridge spans Larry’s Creek in Cogan House Township, Pennsylvania. It was originally constructed in 1877. The bridge was fully restored in 1998.
The old bridge is located a short distance from RT-15, in Steam Valley, 20 miles north of Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
This covered bridge was officially listed on the National Register Of Historic Places in 1980 and is currently maintained by the Lycoming County Commissioners.
This photo was taken with a Canon EOS 10D body fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L Zoom lens, at the 23mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1/45th sec at f/9.5, ISO 100.

Great old covered bridge, the POV gives a great view of the unique suspension construction . fv

Thank you very kindly, Byron! We were lucky that this bridge didn't get damaged when Hurricane Irene blew through our area. Best regards, Gene
